Ethan Enoch-Barlow
Ethan Enoch-Barlow is a Brisbane-based Quandamooka performer with a passion for theatre, poetry and music, who has performed at poetry and spoken-word events with Indigenous groups like Digi Youth Arts and Voices of Colour. Ethan found his start in poetry, but he has recently transitioned towards the hip-hop genre – effortlessly combining both art forms. His music explores Australia’s Indigenous history and the country’s racist past and present, especially towards First Nations peoples.
As beautifully summarised by the artist himself, Ethan aims to, “create work and tell stories that are important to the audience, and important to myself.” Ethan is a member of the hip-hop trio Barefoot Boyz and is a part of the Mama’s Boys collective – who were featured in the world premiere of “Brother’s Book Club” at La Boite Theatre in 2020.
Aside from his passion for and success in both poetry and music, Ethan was chosen as part of THE TWELVE for his unique perspective in and critical exploration of the social and cultural issues of our time, and his ability to present his perspective in a fresh way that encourages listeners and audiences alike to analyse and challenge their own perspectives.
